I started making our own toothpaste but I realized, just like my esteemed professor Dr. Walter Crinnion taught me, that putting the minerals in at the same time you’re trying to draw stuff out doesn’t make as much sense as doing it separately. So, I created a toothpaste that is drawing and cleansing with an after-paste that contains the minerals that I want to take hold in her little teeth and body.

I am happy to say that will consistent brushing and limiting grains with no refined sugars, my daughter’s teeth are healing!

And now, I’m sharing this with you! 🙂

Doctor Q’s Natural Tooth Care

Toothpaste Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup distilled water
  •
1 Tablespoon coconut oil
  • 10 drops clove essential oil
  •
10 drops myrrh essential oils
  • 1/3 cup bentonite clay
  •
1 teaspoon baking soda
  •
1/8 teaspoon salt
  •
2 Tablespoons non-GMO xylitol

Toothpaste Directions:

  1. Mix the wet ingredients and the dry ingredients in separate bowls.
  2. Then, add the dry ingredients to the liquid a small amount at a time making sure the paste is smooth.
  3. If you prefer a thicker paste, simply add more bentonite clay until it reaches your preferred consistency.

White After-Paste Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup Coconut oil
  • 1 Tbsp distilled water
  •
20 drops Peppermint essential oil (or more if using for adults and you prefer a stronger flavor)
  •
15 drops of liquid Stevia (optional)
  • 2 Tablespoons Calcium/Magnesium/VitaminD3 powder
  • 12 capsules Trace minerals, opened & emptied

White After-Paste Directions:

  1. Mix the wet ingredients and the dry ingredients in separate bowls.
  2. Then, add the dry ingredients to the liquid a small amount at a time making sure to incorporate the powder well.
  3. You will find that the after-paste is more liquidy in the summer and more solid in the winter due to the coconut oil.  If you prefer one or the other, you can change the proportion of distilled water to coconut oil with more distilled water creating a more liquidy consistency regardless of season.

I put our toothpaste in little silicone squeeze tubes and the extra (sometimes there’s extra) as well as the after-paste in small jars. Mine are actually baby food jars, but you can use anything glass. There’s no reason you couldn’t put it all in the squeeze tubes, I just happen to only have three tubes and that’s usually what we need so I’m not making toothpaste every week.

You can get these ingredients from my online medicinary or a healthy store near you!

Happy Brushing!!!

Notes:

*Please note that due to the essential oils in this recipe, it is not meant for kids under 1 year old. Peppermint, in my research and experience is safe in small amounts. If you want to use on your little who tend to swallow the paste, you should replace the oils with safer ones with similar effects, I would use lavender, rosemary, and/or fennel.

*I originally used aloe gel that was shelf-stable in the recipe, which was lovely. However, I quickly learned that not all aloe gel/jelly is shelf-stable, so it cuts down on the life of our toothpaste by a lot. I have since gone back to distilled water.
